King County Metro Transit’s RapidRide B Line will be rerouted in north Redmond for up to ten days beginning Monday, May 21 due to a bridge maintenance project.

The bridge is located over the Sammamish River on Northeast 90th Street, north of city hall. It will be closed by the city for up to seven hours a day beginning Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 30. The city said the closures are expected to take place each day between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in both directions including weekends.

To avoid confusion for bus riders, the B Line will remain on detour 24/7, including nights and weekends. It will be rerouted from 148th Avenue Northeast to travel to the Redmond Transit Center via Redmond Way and 161st Avenue Northeast. Approximately five bus stops will be missed while the B Line is rerouted.

For assistance in planning bus trips during the detour, call Metro’s Customer Information Office at (206) 553-3000.

AAA has just released its ‘Your Driving Costs’report for 2012 and due to increasing fuel and tire prices, the yearly cost of owning a car as risen 1.9% or 1.1 cents to 56.9 cents per mile for sedans, and a whooping 75.7 cents for SUV’s.

On the other hand, R-TRIP provides a 3 month transit pass to new transit riders for free, and Transportation Alternatives states the yearly cost of owning a bike is only $390. So stop digging in the couch for change and check out your options! 20,000 R-TRIPpers can’t be wrong.
