We occassionally get questions about entering a monthly drawing, and thought this may be a good time for a quick refresher, to make sure you are getting entered into the drawing.

Whether you sign up at the beginning of the month or wait til the last minute, follow these simple steps & you can win big!

Step 1: Sign Up for the Incentive

On your “My Page” you’ll see all the incentives and drawings you are eligible for on the right hand side.

The red text lets you know you can take action, so let’s do that and click “Sign up” for the “Reasons to Love September Drawing” since the registration is ending soon.

Step 2: Log Your Commutes

Now that you’ve signed up for the drawing, you’ll see your status has changed to “In Progress.”   Everytime you log a bike, bus, walk, vanpool or carpool commute on your “Commute Calendar” you’ll see that status bar move closer to “100% complete”.

Need four trips to enter the drawing? After you log 1 commute, you’ll be at 25% complete.  And when you get the required number of commutes you can move to Step 3.

Step Three: Request Reward

Your status is now “Complete” because you’ve successfully met the requirements.  (Hey! Thanks for taking those alternative commutes!)

But wait, there are more red letters, and that means you have to take action!  Click “Request Reward

Step 4: Verify Your Trips

We’ll take you back to the incentive description where you can verify that it was in fact you, and not your doppleganger, who took the alternative commutes this month.  Check the box, hit “Submit Request

We also remind you to make sure your address in your profile is correct because if you win (hooray!) we will be snail mailing you the prize.

Step 5: Get Out Your Lucky Charms

The status on the drawing has changed to “Complete. Reward Request Received.” Now you know we have your name entered in the drawing.

The only thing left to do is rub your lucky troll doll’s tummy, light a candle, and wait for us to announce the winners on the blog & Facebook.

Oh wait….is that more Red Text?  Better sign up for that newest incentive!  Wash, rinse, repeat steps 1 through 4 for your best chance at winning an R-TRIP drawing!

What if more trips increases your odds?
To use your example, at 4 trips you’ve reached 100% and are entered but what if you’ve made 5, 10, or 20 trips in the time period?
There is no mention if 1) more trips increase your odds of winning (or do they), 2) if you should delay entry till you’ve made those extra trips (or, are they automagically factored in).

    Hi Henri,
In short, the answer is: it depends. Different incentives and drawings will have different rules, and it will usually say if more trips increase your oddsin the drawing description. For instance, the Redmond Trip Challenge, EVERY trip you took during that time period counted towards the program you chose to help (environment, people, or arts). The more trips you logged, the more points that went to the program. For this monthly drawing, you needed to have 4 trips just to be entered to win. So once you hit that 4 trip mark you can enter.
    Hope this helps!

Can you answer Henri’s second question? I am also puzzled by this: if I record trips after entering a drawing (but before end of the incentive period), will these be factored in?
In other words: should I delay entering until the last day of the incentive, even if I have previously met the minimum requirements?

    Hi Patrick,
You don’t need to delay in entering. Once you’ve met the minimum trip requirement you can enter the drawing AND keep logging your trips. All of the trips you take within the incentive period-including those that are logged after you’ve entered the drawing-will be counted towards the drawing.
Shoot us an email (support at gortrip.com) if you have any further questions and we’d be happy to help!
